P073D – Unable to Engage Neutral indicates that the transmission control module (TCM) has detected an issue preventing the transmission from properly engaging the neutral gear. This can result in symptoms such as engine stalling or unintended vehicle movement when the gear lever is in the neutral position.

Possible Causes:
Faulty Shift Solenoid: A malfunctioning shift solenoid can prevent the transmission from engaging neutral.
Low Transmission Fluid: Insufficient fluid levels can affect hydraulic pressure, leading to  worn or Damaged Transmission Components: Components like clutch plates, bands, or gears may wear out over time, causing engagement problems. 
Malfunctioning Transmission Control Module (TCM): A defective TCM may fail to send correct signals to the transmission.
