The Battery Control Module (BCM) is a critical failure point in the Mercedes-Benz R230 SL-Class. Due to aging internal components and high-amperage stress, these modules are prone to internal short circuits that can trigger "Consumer Electronics Offline" warnings, total vehicle power failure, or — in severe cases — thermal damage and trunk fires.

Our professional repair service goes beyond basic component replacement. We perform a deep-level circuit refurbishment to stabilize your vehicle's power management and prevent future failures.
Important: Repair Viability & Thermally Damaged Units If your module has suffered a catastrophic burn-up, the internal PCB layers may be carbonized. Carbonized fiberglass becomes electrically conductive, making a safe repair impossible. Units with extensive internal charring or melted housings are often beyond repair. We evaluate every unit upon arrival — if deemed Beyond Economic Repair (BER), we contact you immediately before any work proceeds.

Professional Diagnosis Required

A professional diagnostic report from Xentry / DAS / Autel by a qualified technician must be provided before shipping. This confirms the N82/1 module is the root cause.

2

Pre-Authorization Required

Contact us before shipping your unit. Unauthorized orders will be canceled. Pre-authorization allows us to screen for beyond-repair symptoms before you incur shipping costs.

3

Strict Component Matching

We service both the early 0945 revision and the updated 1045 revision, as well as Bosch reference 0 199 000 011.

Troubleshooting Guide: Before You Ship
Step 1 — Pull the Diagnostic Report

Have your technician pull a full "Short Test" from the N82/1 (Battery Control Module). Look specifically for B1000 or B1828 / B1829 codes.

Tip: If the scanner cannot communicate with the N82/1 at all, check the high-amp fuses in the trunk first before removing the module.
Step 2 — Physical Inspection
Remove the right-side trunk carpeting and inspect the BCM. If the answer to any of the following is yes, provide photos in your pre-authorization request:

Does the module smell like burnt electronics?

Is the plastic casing warped or melted?

Is there visible charring on the wiring harness?
Step 3 — Safe Removal & Installation Sequence
CRITICAL: Failure to follow this sequence can instantly damage your repaired BCM or the vehicle's SAM modules.
Removal Order
1st
Disconnect the REAR (Consumer) battery
2nd
Disconnect the FRONT (Starter) battery
Installation Order
1st
Reconnect the FRONT (Starter) battery
2nd
Reconnect the REAR (Consumer) battery
Step 4 — Shipping Your Unit

Package the BCM securely in an anti-static bag and bubble wrap.

Include a printed copy of your diagnostic report and your full contact information inside the box.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q My module is physically burnt. Can it still be repaired?
Possibly. As long as the internal PCB is not carbonized through, repair may be viable. Send us clear photos of the board during pre-authorization. If the unit is beyond economic repair, we will notify you before any charges are incurred.
Q What diagnostic tool do I need to confirm the BCM is the issue?
Mercedes-Benz Xentry or DAS is the gold standard. Autel MaxiSys (with MB license) is also acceptable. Generic OBD-II scanners will not communicate with the N82/1 module — a professional-grade tool is required.
Q Do you service both the 0945 and 1045 part numbers?
Yes. We service both the early A2305400945 revision and the updated A2305401045 revision, as well as the Bosch reference unit (0 199 000 011). If you are unsure which revision you have, include a photo of the module label with your pre-authorization request.
